Not every couple wants a formal venue. If you’d rather celebrate somewhere with character, good food and no stuffiness, the Dog & Donkey makes a brilliant wedding reception venue.
Marry at the church or register office, then bring everyone back to Knowle. We’ll have the room dressed the way you want it, drinks ready and the kitchen cooking. Later on, clear the tables for your band or DJ and dance until closing.
We’re also a great choice for engagement parties, rehearsal dinners and day-after get-togethers for family who’ve travelled.

Can we get married at the pub?
We host the celebration rather than the ceremony. Many couples marry at a local church or register office and come straight here for the meal and party.
How many guests can you take?
Up to 100, depending on the layout. A seated wedding breakfast takes fewer than a standing evening party, so tell us your numbers and we’ll advise.
Can we hold an evening reception only?
Yes. Plenty of couples have the day elsewhere and bring everyone here for an evening party with food, a band or DJ and dancing.
Can our dog come?
Yes. Dogs are welcome in the function room and the garden, and a dog in a bow tie always goes down well.
Can we decorate the room?
Yes. Bring your own decorations, flowers and table plans. Let us know in advance and we’ll help with set-up.
What food can you do?
We can serve a sit-down meal from our menu, a buffet-style spread, a Sunday roast for your guests or evening pizzas. We’ll put together a menu and quote around your numbers.
